The Why
Motivation 1.
Every book is potentially a portal with one or multiple openings to something else. I am always fascinated about this thought. I have passed through this portals both unconsciously and consciously. To avoid the risk of forgetting these doors, it would be nice to have a marker of some sort.
Motivation 2.
One of the many benefits of reading digital is to be able to highlight the sections without destroying the media / distracting other readers. Kindle highlights have been really useful feature for me. But the problem is there is not a perfect way to get back to them, browse them through in a more convenient way. I have been giving a few attempts to address this but digressed.
Few weeks ago, when i was reading “பனுவல் போற்றுதும்” i had this strong urge to address the above thoughts which were itching every now and then. Thats when i sat down and started preparing this, a workflow using Notion and a frontend on top of that.
Now to the what..
The What
After reading a book, i want to organize the thoughts notes
So here will be the high level format for each entry here.
- About the book
- My Summary
- My Notes
- Few Quotes
- Inspired by / Recommended by (Who/What triggered me to read the book)
- Rabbit holes
- Where to Read/Get the book
Ambitious, I know. But, this way, Even if i don’t have every points covered, I think I will have something to write about each book. And by forcing myself to write a summary about the book it helps me organise the thoughts and reading focus and avoid skimming/skipping.
The goal is to keep at it for every new book i am reading.
And a small challenge is to prepare this for all the books that i already read this year.
But I’ll get there, eventually 🙂
